DESCRIPTION: This large sized, warm growing, epiphytic species is found from Trinidad & Tobago, Panama, French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, northern Brazil, Ecuador and Peru in wet forests at elevations of 500 to 1100 meters with prominent, approximate, ovoid conical to oblong-subconical, deeply sulcate pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 4 apical, plicate, lanceolate-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, acute or acuminate leaves with a slender, sulcate petiole and blooms in the winter till spring on a 6 [15 cm] long, pendulous, racemose, several [4 to 7] flowered inflorescence arising on a newly developing pseudobulb after the leaves have dropped carrying strongly scented, fleshy flowers.
