ORIGIN: Found in Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Yemen and Oman in open grasslands near streams or in soil pockets of rock outcrops at elevations of 1000 to 1800 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with globose to ovoid, densely tomotose tubers giving rise to an erect, slender to rather stout, leafy throughout stem carrying 7 to 14, lowermost sheathlike, middlemost bunched in lower part of the stem, suberect to spreading, narrowly lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, acute, the upper 3 to 6, mich smaller, adpressed to the stem, lanceolate, acuminate leaves with lanceolate, acute, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts that blooms in the fall and winter on a terminal, erect, [6 to 27 cm] long, rather loosely 5 to many flowered inflorescence with spreading, night scented flowers.
