ORIGIN: Found in Papua New Guinea in upper montane scrub and subalpine grasslands at elevations of 1900 to 3250 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with purple to green, well spaced, narrowly ovoid-cylindric to ovoid, sometimes curved, erect pseudobulbs and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, green above, shiny purple beneath, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, rounded to obtuse, sometimes apiculate, midribbed, grooved above, prominent beneath, 4 to 5 laterally nerved, slightly revolute margined leaf that blooms in the spring through earlier fall on a basal, erect, 6 to 20 [15 to 50 cm] long, subdensely reddish to brown papillate-warty with numerous, claviform, pendulous appendages on the internodes, single flowered inflorescence with 2 to 3, basal, glabrous, tubular bracts and 2 to 3, similar bracts higer up.
