DESCRIPTION: Found from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests as a miniature to large sized, hot to cold growing epiphyte at elevations of 100 to 3100 meters with hard shiny green, sulcate, banana-shaped pseudobulbs that are subtended by scarious bracts and carrying 2 to 3 apical, deciduous, fleshy, hard, linear-oblong, conduplicate below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms on a basal, 1 1/2 [4 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence that is surrounded by imbricating sheaths and arising on a mature pseudobulb occurring at most any time of the year.
