ORIGIN: Found in the Chinese Himalayas, eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Laos and Yunnan province of China in montane forests at elevations of 1800 to 2140 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or lithophyte with an ascending, stout rhizome giving rise to cylindric to narrowly oblong, tapering above to narrowly ovoid, slightly ridged in maturity pseudobulbs enveloped by large bracts and carrying 2, narrowly elliptic-oblong, acute-acuminate, entire, 5 to 7 nerved, mid nerve prominent, narrowing gently into the grooved, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a hysteranthous, peduncel erect, slender, smooth, greenish, 1.2 to 6 [3 to 15 cm] long, imbricating bracts at junction of peduncle and rachis, rachis slightly zig-zag, elongating each year with further imbricating bracts betweeen old and new growth, 2 to 6 flowered inflorescence.
