ORIGIN: Found in Costa Rica and Panama in coastal lagoons, beaches and palm grove vegetation at elevations around sea-level.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with simple, cane-like, erect, laterally compressed stems producing new branches from the middle internode of the previous stem and carrying 2 to 4, in the apical half of the stem, alternate, coriaceous, elliptic, unequally bilobed, margin entire, articulate below into the base leaves that blooms in the late spring to fall on a terminal, racemose, occurring only once, distichous, erect, laterally compressed, ancipitose, 1.2 to 2.8 [3 to 7 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence arising on a mature growth, with 1 to 3, spaced out, conduplicate, ovate, obtuse bracts and with slightly shorter than the ovary, ovate, conduplicate, obtuse to acute floral bracts and carrying 3 to 5, successively opening, yellow to greenish yellow flowers that can be in all states of flowering, ie bud, flower, fruit at the same time.
