ORIGIN: Found in Panama in cloud forests at elevations of 650 to 850 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium to giant sized, warm growing epiphyte with simpple, cane-like, laterally compressed, gradually thinner towards the apex, erect, straight stems enveloped below by scarious sheaths and carrying 9 to 16, all along the apical 2/3's of the stem, articulate, elliptic, short-acuminate, veins conspicuous, margin entire leaves that blooms in the later spring though late fall on a terminal, suberect, paniculate, peduncle laterally compressed, short, provided with 1 to 2 tubular, acuminate bracts, to 12 [30 cm] long, mostly simultaneously 60 to 200 flowered inflorescence with more than 1/2 as long as the ovary, linear-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying resupinate flowers with the tepals white to greenish, and the lip white with purple lines.
