ORIGIN: Found in Tachira Venezuela and Norte de Santander department of Colombia on the Amazon side of the cordillera oriental at elevations around 2870 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Giant sized, cold growing monopodial terrestrial with cane-like, terete, main stem branching above, branches much shorter than the main branch, and carrying numerous on the main stem, 6 to 8on the branches, all along the apical 2/3's of the stems, distichous, articulate, erect-spreading, coriaceous, oblong-elliptic to elliptic, apex rounded to slightly bilobed, margin entire leaves that blooms in the earlier winter through mid spring on a termina, from both sides of the stems and branches, racemose, occurring only once, arching-nutant, peduncle very short, slightly laterally compressed, densely simultaneously 12 to 15 flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, triangular-ovte, acuminate floral bracts and carrying resupinate, fleshy, yellow brown, dorsally deep brown flowers with an olive green column.
