ORIGIN: Found in Oaxaca state of Mexico in montane pine oak forests at elevations of 2500 to 3000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cold growing epiphyte with a divergent, horizontal, attenuate rhizome giving rise to 1 to 2, deciduous, plicate, absent at flowering, ovate-elliptic, acute-apiculate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring before the leaves appear, on a lateral, racemose, 8 [20 cm] long, subcapitate, short, dense, to 6 flowered inflorescence provided with imbricate, tubular sheaths and has almost as long as the ovary, broadly ovate, lanceolate to subligulate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying resupinate, showy, softly sweet, fragrant flowers.
