ORIGIN: Found in Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande Do Sul and Minas Gerais states of Brazil in the hot humid lowlands, cooler mountain areas and the interior plains and savannas.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with small, erect, narrowly egg-shaped, strongly laterally compressed pseudobulbs enveloped completely by imbricate, distichous, longitudinally folded, close-fitting, triangular sheaths and carrying a single, rigid, oblong, apical, leathery, lightly undulate, slightly concave, oblique, abruptly blunt tip, narrowing below into the conduplicate, short, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring, summer and fall on a basal, 6 to 12 [15 to 30 cm] long, dense, many flowered, racemose inflorescence that arises on a mature pseudobulb and carries fragrant flowers.
