Description: This species can be found in Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, and the Philippines as an epiphyte growing in large trees in the hot and humid lowlands. It typically blooms in late spring, with inflorescences arising from the center of newly emerging growths. The flowers smell of 'awapuhi.
Culture: This plant prefers bright shade and may not bloom if the light is not high enough. Watering should be reduced in the winter so that the media dries out completely between waterings. I grow mine in an eight-inch plastic basket with coarse bark.
