(Peter Smithers x infundibulum)
 
 
Description: This is probably the oldest plant in my collection of orchids.  The plant is more than 25 years old.  It is a hybrid of Den. Peter Smithers and Den. infundibulum made by William Kirch and registered by Jones and Scully in 1979.  The largest flower measures more than 4 inches across.  The plant which is 34 inches tall was given an Award of Merit (AM) and Certificate of Cultural Merit (CCM) at the Aiea Orchid Show in 2018. 
 
Culture: The plant is growing in a 6-inch clay pot with New Zealand sphagnum moss as the media.  The plant is kept outside under 55% shade cloth.  It is watered 2-3 times per week and fertilized weekly with Michigan State University formula fertilizer.
