Description: Phalaenopsis equestris rosea 'Mauve' is a lovely little species plant. It has been flowering for two months now, its first blossoms starting to fall. However, its flower spikes continue to extend, producing new blossoms throughout our spring months. In its first flowering, it has produced two lovely inflorescences of mauve-coloured fragrant flowers.
Culture: All my phalaenopsis orchids are grown in a light dressing of sphagnum moss, with a little charcoal added. They need to be watered every 6 to 8 days, depending on the season, even during the winter. Feeding occurs with watering, and I make use of compost teas, largely from kitchen scraps, of various kinds... their culture is totally organic. Located in a warm north-easterly room, they receive lots of direct morning sun during the winter. However, during the warmer months, a sheer curtain is drawn to limit sun exposure.
