Saved discarded plant in Fort Lauderdale FL
Description: large leaves (20x6cm) growing 4 at a time; as new leaves emerge and reach full size, the oldest base leaf yellows and dies. Multiple aerial roots. Flower spike began January and took 5+ weeks before first bud opened. Dark purple flowers (8cm wide x 7cm tall when fully opened) with light back to 3 basal petals (sepals), showing as white edge from front. Conspicuous white "spot" and small mottling in center of flowers, leading to tentative identificatiin of Phalaenopsis buyssoniana. Flower spike half meter in length.
Culture: Started flower spike January 2021 after colder weather and overcast skies for 2 weeks, following 8 months care; once weekly watering; as new leaves developed oldest leaves turned yellow and died one at a time. Flowers last ~3 months from opening.
