Description: Dendrochilum saccolabium is a small grower with brioght red flowers on an arching spike. A small pseudobulbed gem that will grow into a specimen in a 4"pot. Although Dendrochilums are often mountain plants, they are very adaptable to cultivation. Found in the Philippines at elevations above 1200 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte with tapered, single leafed pseudobulbs with a leathery, flat, corrugated leaf and blooms in the fall and winter on an semi-arching, densely many [40] flowered inflorescence arising with a new growth and has flowers that do not open fully because of the spotted bracts semi-enveloping them.
Culture: Bright to Shade; 2000-3000 Footcandles (bright indirect light, strong shadowing) Temperature: Intermediate; 55°F min. to 85°F max. Use shredded spaghnam/isolite(polystyrene) mix or similar media that will stay damp but not soggy wet. This species comes from Philippines and likes warm to intermediate conditions.
