Culture: A deciduous plant in cool weather and needs a rest in winter. I bought my plants in winter and watered them rarely, keeping them in heavy shade; undercover. They maintained leaves and one plant has 2 flowers on an old cane. The flowers are snow white and smell amazing, really strong perfume. Some say a rose scent. I can imagine this as a specimen plant in flower it would be superb. As this species is cultivated in Japan they tend to treat it like a neofinetia as it has floppy canes and slow root growth. Will probably need staking or would look good mounted. We have had an exceptionally cold winter in the tropics (15c) and apparently it needs a cooler rest for flowering. Apparently it also will not lose its leaves if it is given no rest period and is attractive with its variegated cream and green foliage
