The flowers have fallen off my new Lois Spangler-Melodious Laughter. How do I care for this plant? It’s very different from my other orchids. Any and all information is very much appreciated.

almost 4 years agoHi Sylvia, Welcome to Orchids! I live in Florida and grow orchids, succulents and 3 rose bushes. Very few roses do well in South Florida because of our heat and humidity but many orchids love it. Your plant sounds fabulous: RLC. Lois Spangler - Melodious Laughter. The plants in the background are all Cattleyas except for a small portion of Rhyncholaelia digbyana. Your challenge will be to give the plant the 50 to 60% humidity it wants. It can take cooler night temperatures of 58 degrees in winter. Cattleyas are from South America. The 3 most important species in the background of your plant are C mossiae, C trianae & C gaskelliana. There are several ways to raise humidity, pebbles in trays of water with the pot sitting on top and/or using Spanish moss draped around the plant and they spritz with water.
