Place them in a cool, moist shaded location; use a well-drained medium with lots of moisture-retaining quality; do not use straight bark; some peat moss is advantageous; syringe frequently and lightly. A64-872

MASDEVALLIAS: As Problem Plants Bud drying and dropping occurs when dryness happens; plants need constant moist medium; drying can shock them; also, high temperatures hurt them; other causes of bud drop are mites, or plant lice, or aphids, or air pollution from automobile exhaust. A71-21 0
