Bud drying and dropping occurs when dryness happens; plants need constant moist medium; drying can shock them; also, high temperatures hurt them; other causes of bud drop are mites, or plant lice, or aphids, or air pollution from automobile exhaust. A71-21

MASDEVALLIAS: New Growth Catches in the Sheaths It has been seen when they are grown under lights; possibly arises because the plants grow extremely compactly; do not pot them too deeply as this may be contributory; make sure they get enough light so they do not have to "reach" which may cause other abnormalities.
