rlc Caotan Beauty found at Home Depot

Cattleya Alliance

by David George

I stopped at Home Depot tonight and while I was there I wandered over to the area where the bag babies are kept. Among those I found a healthy rlc CaoTan Beauty and decided to buy it and bring it home to repot in a large pot to allow the roots space to expand.

I did some research and found data on Orchids.com giving the parents which include King of Taiwan. That tells me it should have some impressive flowers when the time comes to bloom. Has anyone in this group grown this one and if so how are you growing it and what advice can you give me to encourage it while it develops?

Hi David, No specific advice but I do know some of those bag babies come from great hybridizers. OrchidWiz shows the plant is 40% C dowiana with the other 60% many other species including some digbyana. So look up dowiana culture. It should have a fabulous lip. The cross was registered in 2019.
