Odontocidium Orchid fungus?

General Discussion

by Kristin Dorris

I lost a a Dendrobium Antennatum Antelope to a fungal infection recently.  I seperated, disenfected entire area, and used an anti-fugal. The problem with that one was at it's crown and roots. i had hoped i found it early enough to prevent spread. I have a flowering Odontocidium Sunny Daze ‘Hilo Bay’ that has developed white spots on the flowers and are drying out after only blooming for about 2 weeks. The base is developing a "shadow" look to them.  I've once again isolated it and treated it again. Any advice?

Hello, Kristin! From your pictures, it looks like there may be some Phyllosticta infection in the leaves, but it doesn’t seem to be the main problem. Which antifungal active ingredient are you using? Could it be phytotoxic? Also, how often are you watering this orchid? It might also be worth checking its roots.
