The retractable rollers are popular in places but they lose their springiness; a substitute can be rigged by placing a thin pipe horizontally about four feet above the flower spikes, and hanging over it lengths of fishiing line long enough to reach the spike, where a soft hook is attached, and an extra length over the pipe to which is attached a small weight, like an angler's sinker to act as a counterweight and lift the spike.
