ORIGIN: Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in cloud and elfin forests at elevations of 2300 to 2900 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with simple, erect, laterally compressed stems enveloped completely by imbricate leaf sheaths carrying 6 to 16 distributed all along the stem, distichous, imbricating, articulate, coriaceous, dark green, linear, obtuse, minutely apiculate, rugose, conduplicate and arching, margin entire, papillose leaves that blooms at any time of the year on a lateral, near basal, creeping-pendent, lasting several years, 3 [7.5 cm] long, successively single flowered inflorescence completely covered by successively segmented bracts, branching, each segment of various internodes, each node with an ovate bract, sometimes tubular at the base, acute to short, acuminate, striated, scarious, the new segment produced from the upper part of the last internode.
