ORIGIN: Found in Colombia and Venezuela at elevations of 900 to 2000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, warm to cool growing orchid with large, dark green, clustered, conical, spiked as in Lycaste apically, slightly compressed pseudobulbs carrying 3, apical, clear-light green, plicate, deciduous, elliptic-lanceolate leaves with basal sheaths that blooms in the spring and summer as the new growths arise on 1 to 4, basal, 8 [20 cm] long, terete, light green, single flowered inflorescence subtended by several, inflated, ovate, acuminate bracts and an inflated, ovate, acuminate floral bract and has a solitary, tulip-like, fleshy, fragrant, long lasting flower held at mid-leaf height.
