ORIGIN: Found in Costa Rica and western Panama at elevations around 1500 to 1750 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with simple, cane-like, terete, thin, straight at the base and somewhat flexuous towards the apex stems carrying 5, towards the apical half of the stem, alternate, articulate, coriaceous, narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, acute leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a terminal, occurring only once, racemose, distichous, arching, 2 [5 cm] long including the 1 [2.5 cm] long peduncle enveloped completely by 7, narrowly ovate, subacute, conduplicate, imbricating, glumaceous bracts, successively single, to 7 flowered inflorescence with much longer than the ovary, ovate, subacute, conduplicate, glumaceous floral bracts and carrying greenish yellow, green to purple green flowers.
