ORIGIN: Found in Peru in wet cloud forests at elevations around 3400 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cold growing epiphyte with simple, canelike, terete, thick stems carrying several, all along the apical 2/3's of the stem, distichous, spreading, somewhat recurved, coriaceous, narrowly lanceolate, acute, dark green above, reddish beneath leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal and or lateral, paniculate, nutant, heavy, terete, [34 cm] long including the 2 [5 cm] long, peduncle, densely, simultaneously to 70 flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, linear-triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying greenish flowers that are strongly tinged with purple.
