ORIGIN: Found in Choco and Narino departments of Colombia and Esmeraldas Ecuador on the Pacific slope of the Andes in pluvial or montane wet cloud forests at elevations of 500 to 1400 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with simple, cane-like terete, thin, straight, erect stems enveloped by 1 to 2, tubular, non-foliar, apically inflated, acute sheaths and carrying 3 to 6, all along the stem, articulate, alternate, erect-spreading, unequal in size, basally smaller, coriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, minute dorsal keel, somewhat erose, margin entire leaves that blooms in the winter spring and summer on a terminal, erect, arising on a mature stem, generally flowering only once, paniculate, very rarely racemose, distichous, 2 to 9 branched, each suberect branch laxly few flowered, peduncle, thin, laterally compressed, ancipitous, rachis laterally compressed basally, filiform above, straight to slightly sinuous, simultaneously 4 to 25 flowered overall inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, triangular, acuminate floral bract and carrying non-resupinate, distichous, green to yellowish green, lemon grass scented flowers.
