ORIGIN: Found in Valle de Cauca Colombia on the Pacific slope of the cordillera Occidental in wet and dense cloud forests at elevations around 1200 to 2000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium to giant sized, cool to just cold growing terrestrial with cane-like, terete, thin, erect, straight stems carrying all along the stem, 14 to 20 on the main stem, 8 to 9 on the branches, articulate, alternate, subcoriaceous, unequal in size, narrowly elliptic, acuminate leaves that blooms in the winter through spring on a terminal, occurring only once, on both the main stem and branches, racemose, erect, 2.6 to 5.2 [7 to 13 cm] long including the .2 to .4 [5 to 10 mm] long, terete, thin, straight peduncle, rachis, terete, thin, cylindrical, simultaneously 12 to 24 flowered inflorescence with as long as the ovary, prominent, triangular, ovate, acuminate, amplexicaul floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate flowers.
