ORIGIN: Found in southeastern Ecuador and Peru at elevations of [1200] 2000 to 2200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large to giant sized, cold growing epiphyte with cane-like, strongly ancipitous, erect stems produced from a subbasal internode of the previous stem, arcuate through a right angle, curving upwards to a vertical position and carrying equidistant along the stem, progressively larger, elliptic-ovate, rounded, dorsally carinate leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, from a mature stem, erect, racemose, producing successive racemes over years, peduncle, elongate, longer than the stem, flexuous, ancipitous, successively 2 to 4, to 20 flowered inflorescence enveloped by tubular, ancipitous, acute bracts carrying non-resupinate, non-fragrant flowers.
