ORIGIN: Found in northern Peru in scrublands, grasslands and forests fragments at elevations of 3300 to 3400 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with erect, simple, cane-like stems carrying up to 9, only in the upper half, alternate, articulate, narrowly elliptic, mucronate, subcoriaceous, green, crenate margined leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, arching, racemose; peduncle, 1.6 [4 cm] long, thin, terete; rachis, thin, terete, straight, overall to 4.8 [12 cm] long, simultaneously, densely flowered inflorescene with much shorter than the ovary, triangular floral bracts and without a spathaceous bract.
