ORIGIN: Found in Antioquia and Valle de Cauca Colombia in cloud forests at elevations of 1770 to 2050.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with simple, cane-like, terete, striahgt stems carrying 7 to 13, all along the apical half, articulate, alternate, erect spreading, amplexicaul, green and concolor in youth, with age the underside becomes purple, orbicular to elliptic, acute, subcoriaceous, margin entire leaves that blooms in the late spring through fall on a terminal, racemose to paniculate, occurring only once, without a spathe, peduncle 2.8” [7 cm] long, elongate, straight thin, provided with 2 lanceolate, acuminate, amplexicaul bracts, rachis 7.6” [19 cm] long, when paniculate with a spreading basal, short, few flowered branch subtended by a narrwoly triangular, acuminate, amplexicaul bract, lax, simultaneously 8 to 17 flowered inflorescence with prominent, unequal in size, basally half as long as the ovary, apically 1/4 as long as the ovary, linear-triangular, acuminate, amplexicaul floral bracts and carrying resupinate flowers with the tepals and the basal half of the column green, the lip and apical half of the column surrounded by pale purple spots spilling onto the lobes.
