ORIGIN: Found in southern Mexico on the Pacific coast in canyons at elevations around 850 to 1700 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial in clayey soils with a simple, cane-like, terete, thin, erect, straight stem carrying 6 to 26, throughout the stem, alternate, articulate, spreading, linear-lanceolate, grasslike, acute, smooth, green leaves that blooms in the winter through summer on a terminal, occurring only once, erect, terete, thin, straight, 1.8 to 8.4 [4.5 to 21 cm] long including the .8 to 6.2 [2 to 15.5 cm] long peduncle, racemose to paniculate, 7 to 25 flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, triangular, acuminate floral bracts.
