DESCRIPTION: Chiapas Mx., 457m elev., 12 km beyond the village of Palenque, epiphytic on lower trunk of large tree in humid forests at elevations of sea-level to 1000 meters on the Atlantic slope from Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama and is a miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with cylindric, compressed stems enveloped by leaf sheaths with fleshy, ovate to lanceolate, falcate, abaxially carinate, gray-green above, obtuse to acute, conduplicate below leaves that are subcordate at the base and blooms on a terminal, erect, 2 to 3 1/4 [5 to 8 cm] long, single successively flowered, somewhat fractiflex inflorescence lasting several seasons and occurring at most anytime of the year with flowers that are weakly fragrant at sunup.
