ORIGIN: Found in Panama at elevations around 1000 to 1200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with simple, basally terete, laterally compressed towards the apex, cane-like stems the basal 2/3's enveloped by scarious, tubular, non-foliaceous sheaths and carrying 2 to 4, towards the apex, unequal in size, suberect, articulate, distichous, coriaceous, oblong-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acute, margin entire leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect to slightly arching, racemose to paniculate, occurring only once, laterally compressed, somewhat ancipitous, straight to flexuous, 8 to 60 flowered inflorescence with 3 to 9, tubular, acute to subacute, ancipitous, partly imbricating bracts and as long as the ovary or shorter, triangular-lanceolate, ahort acuminate floral bracts and carries successive flowers staring opening at the base.
