ORIGIN: Found in Venezuela in cloud forests at elevations of 1800 to 3300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial and rarely epiphyte with cane-like, terete, erect, straight, branching sub-apically, main stem longer than the branches stem carrying 15 on the main stem, 5 to 9 on the branches, all along the apical half, basal ones shorter, alternate, subcoriaceous, oblong, obtuse, margin spreading, slightly erose towards the apex, articulate below into the base leaves that blooms in the later winter through later summer on a terminal, racemose, occurring only once, arching, conical, short, terete, thin, generally lax, few flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, narrowly triangular to triangular-lanceolate, acuminate, amplexicual floral bracts and carrying 7 to 13, resupinate, simultaneously opening flowers.
