ORIGIN: Found in western Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 100 to 300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, hot growing epiphyte with an erect to slightly arching, simple, cane like, laterally compressed stem enveloped basally by non-foliaceous, scarious, tubular sheaths and carrying all along the upper 2/3's of the stem, 12 or more, alternate, articulate, erect-spreading, narrowly elliptic to elliptic, acute, margin entire leaves that blooms in the late fall and winter on more than one, terminal to lateral, erect, racemose to pluriracemose, arching-pendent, peduncle 1.8 to 18.4 [4.6 to 46 cm] long, subterete, thin, totally enveloped by lanceolate, acuminate, amplexicaul, partly imbricate bracts, the terminal, elongate to 4 to 20 [10 to 50 cm] long, the laterals, 4 to 8 [10 to 20 cm] long, 9 to 25 flowered inflorescence with the green flowers with a white lip held towards the apex in a cluster.
