ORIGIN: Found in northern Peru at elevations of 2300 to 2650 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to just medium sized, cold growing lithphyte with simple, cane-like, terete, basally subsherical stems carrying 3 to 9, all along the stem, articulate, elliptic-lanceolate, bilobed, coriaceous, smooth, margin entire leaves that blooms in the mid fall, winter through spring on a terminal, without a spathe, pluriracemose, peduncle long, terete, erect, 4 to 15.2 [10 to 38 cm] long, completely enveloped by tubular, imbricating, acute bracts, rachis .6 to 2.6 [4 to 6.5 cm] long, successively 3 to 15, numerous flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, basally larger, triangular, acute to acuminate floral bractts and carrying non-resupinate, without a scent, white, to somewhat tinged pink or violet flowers with a yellow callus.
