ORIGIN: This medium to large sized, variable epiphytic species comes from southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru as well as Trinidad in tall evergreen forests and dense tropical forests at elevations of 320 to 1700 meters.
DESCRIPTION: This medium to large sized, variable epiphytic species comes from southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru as well as Trinidad in tall evergreen forests and dense tropical forests at elevations of 320 to 1700 meters and as such is a medium sized, hot to cool growing, unifoliate epiphyic species having close set, prominent, ovoid to reniform, compressed pseudobulbs enveloped by a series of basal, papery bracts and carrying a single, apical, linear-lanceolate, acute-acuminate, conduplicate below into the narrow, elongate, petiolate base, leaf and blooms in the summer with sweet scented, long-lasting, waxy, solitary flowers with variable color, on a basal, slender, 2 to 5 [5 to 12.5 cm] long, inflorescence with tubular floral bracts half the length of the ovary that arises on a mature pseudobulb with the flowers held above the leaf.
