DESCRIPTION: This is a small to medium sized, cool growing, caespitose, epiphytic species found from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru on exposed, brush covered slopes in wet montane forests at an elevation of 1600-2000 meters with an ovoid, laterally compressed, mottled purple brown, slightly ancipitous, rugose pseudobulb subtended by 2 to 3 imbricate bracts with the uppermost leaf-bearing and has 2 apical, oblong, obtuse, conduplicate below into the petiolate base leaves and blooms in the spring on an axillary, 7 to 9 3/4 [18 to 25 cm] long, erect to arcuate, several [6 to 9] flowered, racemose inflorescence that is equal to or longer than the leaves, arising on a mature pseudobulb and carrying several fragrant, showy flowers.
