ORIGIN: A medium sized, cool to hot growing epiphytic or lithophytic orchid on limestone cliffs in narrow crevasses that is found in Nepal, Bhutan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Xizang and Yunnan provinces of China, Hong Kong, northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, peninsular Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in primary, broadleaf, evergreen lowland forests or primary montane forests at elevations of sea-level to 1500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: A medium sized, cool to hot growing epiphytic or lithophytic orchid with 1.2 to 1.6 [3 to 4 cm] between each, ovoid to ellipsoid pseudobulb that carry 2 apical, oblong-elliptic, acute, plicate, 5 nerved, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall arising on the newest mature pseudobulb with a terminal, slender, 2 [4 to 5 cm] long, erect, fractiflex rachis, 1 to 3 flowered, racemose inflorescence subtended with a narrow basal sheath and carrying 1 to 3, fragrant [musk], long-lived flowers held just above the leaves. This species requires a short rest in mid-winter.
