DESCRIPTION: Found in The Leeward and Windward Islands, Trinidad, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Surinam, Guyana, Fr. Guiana to Brazil as a small sized, hot to warm growing, erect, caespitose epiphyte found in wet montane forests on smaller branches in bright light at altitudes around 650 to 1500 meters with ellipsoid, compressed, glossy pseudobulbs subtended by several foliaceous bracts equal in length to the single, apical, linear-lanceolate, petiolate, acute, rigid, coriaceous, leaf that is v shaped in cross-section and can bloom throughout the year but mostly in the spring on an axillary, to 14 [35 cm] long, several to many flowered, racemose inflorescence with ovate, acuminate floral bracts arising on a mature pseudobulb with all the flowers on the top side of the inflorescence.
