ORIGIN: Found in Sulawesi, the Moluccas, New Guinea, the Phillipines and the Solomon Islands at altitudes of sea-level to 600 meters on large trees in primary rainforests found high up in the spreading branches of a leafy tree and savannah thickets or mangrove swamps.

DESCRIPTION: Hot to warm growing, monopodial epiphyte, with an ascending or arcuate, rigid, terete stem carrying 2 ranked, rigid, very leathery, arcuate-spreading, strap-like, unequally bilobed apically, obtuse leaves blooming in the spring and early summer on an erect or horizontal, axillary, to 2' [60 cm] long, branched [6 flowers per], nodal, purple, densely flowered inflorescence that has triangular-ovate floral bracts with several [15], color variable, non-scented flowers.
