It was once a destructive pest; now in many places no more a problem. AH7; in northern areas a small black weevil (black vine weevil?) cuts scallop-shaped pieces out of edges of flowers at night; they can be searched out with a flashlight at night and picked off; their larvae feed in the compost; in Hawaii. P69(l)-10; they feed on roots. OR74-223
