Deformed growths on BLC King of Taiwan

Cattleya Alliance

by John Hyatt

My plants (2 divisions) of BLC King of Taiwan 'Ta-Hsin' are consistently making deformed growths  -- short, stubby pseudobulbs with no leaves or very vestigal leaves  --  after several years of normal growth.  Sheaths are normal and the plants flower; no sign of virus.  No such behavior in any of my several hundred other Cattleyas.

Does anyone else experience this problem?  I'm used to yellow Catts eventually starting to give deformed flowers, but deformed vegetative growth is new to me.

Cheers,

jh
