Is this a species or Primary Hybrid?

   The X in front of the name indicates it is a natural hybrid. It looks like the plant was described in 1908 and in 1966 determined to be a natural hybrid instead of a separate species. This from the International Orchid Register of the Royal Horticultural Society. Then Carl Withner in his book The Cattleyas describes Dayana as well as three other natural hybrids with C guttata.

      Carol Thank you for the response. We won (C. intermedia X C. X dayana) plant at the AOS judging raffle last year. I found the registered name C. Memoria Kay Johnston. I thought this was a primary hybrid since the parents were both species. I was trying to make a cross of two primary hybrids this plant with Memoria Nancy Ginnochio. It now appears I have made a normal hybrid cross. I will continue to look for two primary to hybrids to cross. Again Thank You!
