Planning of gifting someone? Try making the gift yourself. Handmade gifts are better, precious and contain more love, than those which are purchased. Orchids are great gift items, which you can gift in numerous ways.

Out of the various options, let us focus on two, orchid drawings/paintings as well as photography. These can be turned into beautiful gifts in many ways.

When selecting an orchid to paint, choose an orchid which is in full bloom. Though some orchids are just as beautiful in non-flowering state, you can do full justice to most orchids only when they flower.

Pencil drawing is the easiest and simplest to do. You can also use enamel colors. If you want to try something new, try charcoal. Using water/poster colors is another option, but you might encounter some problem while shading the painting. Shading can be done easily with pastel or pencil colors. Turn your orchid drawing into a gift by framing it or turning it into a card or a calendar, or even a bookmark. You can also scan your drawing and take a computer printout.

If painting is not be your strong point, do not lose hope. Pick up your digital camera and click a picture. This picture can be edited into a work of art with very little effort.

There are many free photo editing programs available on web. You can download any of these and editing your pictures in a variety of ways. I love to work on Photoscape, which you can download from internet. It has an editor option, with nice editing tool. You can easily edit photographs and experiment using these tools. The edited photograph can be then saved. Now you are just a printout away! You can get more information on digital editing from Digital art and Design site which you will find in computers site on Bellaonline.com.

When your photograph is ready, you can transfer your photograph on to a coaster, a wooden block, on a mug. You can check on Pinterest for more information on transferring pictures on to different objects. Then try these ideas on your orchid photographs too.
