Orchid Species: Masdevallia weberbaueri

Masdevallia weberbaueri is an orchid species identified by Schltr. in 1921.
ORIGIN: A miniature sized, caespitose, warm growing epiphytic species of Ecuador and Peru that is found at 800 to 1100 meters in montane rainforests.
DESCRIPTION: A miniature sized, caespitose, warm growing epiphytic species of Ecuador and Peru that is found at 800 to 1100 meters in montane rainforests with a short, erect, stout ramicaul concealed by 2 to 3 scarious, tubular sheaths with an erect, single, apical, oblanceolate, attenuate, obtuse, coriaceous, carinate leaf that blooms on an erect, to 7 [to 18 cm] long, triangular in cross-section, inflorescence arising from the base of the ramicaul with a basal bract and tubular, imbricating floral bracts holding the flower well above or at the leaf height with several flowers opening in succession occurring most often in the winter and spring.
