Orchid Species: Maxillaria grandimentum

Maxillaria grandimentum is an orchid species identified by C.Schweinf. in 1944.
ORIGIN: Found in Peru at elevations of 1800 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing orchid with ovoid-cylindric, compressed pseudobulbs enveloped by a pair of distichous, oblong-triangular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, elliptic-oblong, acute to shortly acuminate, cuneate below into the conduplicate, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an abbreviated, to .6 [1.5 cm] longlateral, basal, single flowered inflorescence enveloped by 4 to 5, ventricose, imbricating bracts and carrying subfleshy, rather small flowers.
