ORIGIN: Found in Ecuador and Colombia at elevations of 1000 to 2300 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with fasiculate, stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by a loose tubular sheath above the middle and2 to 3, loose, imbricating sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous,elliptic-ovate, subacute to obtuse to rounded, broadly cuneate below into the subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and early spring on a fascile of to 30, simultaneous, distichous to subsecund, 6 to 12 [15 to 30 cm] long, racemose, densely and simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising throug a foliaceous spathe and an annulus and has broadly infundibular floral bracts.
