Orchid Species: Dendrobium pentapterum

Dendrobium pentapterum is an orchid species identified by Schltr. in K.M.Schumann & C.A.G.Lauterbach in 1905.
ORIGIN: A freeflowering, miniature sized, cool to warm growing, epiphytic orchid from northeastern Papua and New Guinea and the Philippines that is found at altitudes of 500 to 2000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: A freeflowering, miniature sized, cool to warm growing, epiphytic orchid from northeastern Papua and New Guinea and the Philippines that is found at altitudes of 500 to 2000 meters in lower montane cloud forests on mossy branches in moderate shade to bright light with ovoid to club-shaped, enveloped by persistent leaf sheaths, branching stems carrying 1 to 3, linear to elliptic leaves. This species can bloom at any time of the year on a short, terminal, single flowered inflorescence with longlasting flowers that arises from the apex of the leafed pseudobulb and having the flowers nestled in the leaves.
